Google Indexing

Concept

Google Indexing is an optional feature that provides a list of your online collections in the world's the most popular search engine. When you request Google Indexing for your PastPerfect Online site, we'll submit a sitemap which lists of all of your PastPerfect Online catalog pages. Crawlers will be dispatched to collect content information from your pages. That scanned information is then stored in Google's index allowing your pages to be found when someone performs a Google search.

Before your site is submitted, please be sure your site meets your own professional expectations. Unlike PastPerfect Online, changes made to your records in the Google index may take weeks or months to reflect updates to your content due to the number of websites that Google has to index. Spend time looking at your catalog records to be sure you have included the fields that you wish to display as well as ensuring sensitive content is not included.

We'll submit your sitemap for free! Send us an email at pposupport@museumsoftware.com and let us know when your site is ready and we'll take care of the rest. After your site has been submitted, it can take weeks or even months before your catalog records will be indexed. There is no way to force immediate indexing of your site, and it is normal for some pages to not be indexed. Google crawlers will periodically revisit your sitemap to regather information, adding new pages, removing old links, etc.
